Evacuation means life. You can give them this chance

Imagine the is bombs outside your window.
The roof about to collapse.
Children or elderly parents in your arms.

Could you escape on your own—without transport, without money, without help?

Every day, hundreds of Ukrainians face this reality.
Every day, Caritas gives them a bus, a safe place, and a chance for a new life.

The choice these people make

Families with children, elderly people, and those with disabilities remain in danger until shelling destroys their homes.
They fear the road, but they fear even more being trapped under the rubble.
When they board the bus, their eyes show both exhaustion and hope.

“We see people carrying only a single bag—the last thing left from their former life. The only thing that matters to them is reaching a safe place,” says Uliana Krys, Head of the Emergency Appeal.

Our goal

We are raising 5,200,000UAH ($123 503,90) to evacuate 1,000 people from frontline communities of Donetsk Oblast.

What your contribution covers

a seat on the bus (including special transport for people with disabilities)
hot meals and drinking water for the journey
hygiene kits and non-food items
accompaniment to shelters or rented housing
individual support from case managers

“I thought I was already dead…”. The Story of Mrs. Valentyna and Jack

“I thought I was already dead…” says Mrs. Valentyna, who was evacuated from the village of Oleksandrivka.

After yet another shelling, her house turned into ruins. The walls collapsed, the roof caved in, and she was trapped under the debris.
She could see nothing, hear nothing—she thought it was the end.
At that moment, her dog Jack began digging through the rubble. He barked, scratched, and clawed until a sliver of light broke through.
By touch, Valentyna found a rope, pushed it outside, and whispered:
“Jack, my dear, pull…”
And Jack pulled her out from under the ruins.
When Valentyna arrived at the transit centre in Pavlohrad, her hands were still trembling.
Today, she and Jack are safe.
“I won’t go anywhere without him. If we must, we’ll live on the street, but together. But thanks to Caritas, we have a roof over our heads and we can go on living.”

Why We Must Act Now

Every day, we receive calls from people begging to be evacuated from under shelling.
Often, it is their last chance for survival, because tomorrow may be too late.

Be part of someone’s rescue

10$ – a hot meal
25$ – a bus seat to safety
125$ – an entire family saved

Your help = life

Thank you to everyone who supports people on the hardest journey of their lives.
Thanks to you, they have the chance to get on a bus, arrive in a safe place, and—for the first time in a long while—finally exhale.
